Irbid, Aug. 4 (Petra) -- The Arab World Center for Democratic Development (UNIHRD), in cooperation with Germany's Hanns Seidel Stiftung, organized a specialized training workshop on journalism and fair access to public data in Irbid Governorate on Tuesday.
Media legislation expert Yahya Shuqair emphasized that accessing public data and information forms the foundation of journalistic work, highlighting the importance of proactive disclosure and aligning practices with national legislation.
Shuqair explained that the law regulates access to information through a formal request submitted to the relevant authority, clearly specifying the requested details to facilitate the journalist's work based on transparency and participation in decision-making.
UNIHRD Program Director Samah Bani Hani noted that the workshop forms part of the center's Governance Program series, which reflects its commitment to promoting good governance, transparency, accountability, and community participation.
The workshop covered key topics, including the legal framework governing the right to access information and journalists' practical needs in gathering data.
